You can minimize the fear of going to the dentist, experts say.
The American Dental Association suggests:
- Talk to your dentist about your anxiety. He or she can make accommodations to make you feel more at ease.
- Schedule your appointment a time when you’re not rushed or stressed, perhaps early on a weekday morning or on a Saturday.
- Bring a pair of headphones and listen to your favorite music during your appointment.
- Visualize yourself in a relaxing, comfortable place during the visit.
